The Sportsman is built for the demanding use of hunters and fishermen. It provides an extremely stable platform for all types of outdoor activities.

The Sportsman 15' features a slight shallow arch hull with a wider midsection, carried toward the ends. This increases the stability and capacity. It is ideal for canoers who require excellent initial stability.

The rear flotation tank is filled with solid urethane foam. This type of foam is highly resistant to gasoline or other types of solvents. The foam expands at a different rate each time it is mixed. Because of this, a fixed fiberglass yoke may not be balanced correctly.

A third seat and rowing frame are available as options for this boat. A fisherman can easily hold the canoe in place while rowing on most moderate rivers.

The transom (flat rear portion) of the canoe occurs pretty much above the waterline. This feature reduces drag and water turbulence as the canoe moves efficiently through the water.

With a small outboard, the Sportsman really shines. Powered by a 3 h.p. with two people aboard, it will travel at 7.5 knots. Try this with any other small craft... they can't match this performance.

It is available in fiberglass, reinforced with cross ribs, or in a Kevlar® layup, stiffened with a vacuum bagged foam core, as is standard with all Clipper Kevlar® canoes.

It can be ordered in any of the colors shown on the inside cover of this catalog. If you want to “blend in”, you may want to order yours in sand or custom grey, with black trim to cut down on reflection.

The Sportsman is one of our most stable models, so if you carry active cargo like kids or dogs, then the Sportsman should be your first choice in a square stern model.
